Nesta quarta-feira (1°), o mundo do automobilismo e os admiradores de Ayrton Senna recordam os 30 anos da trágica perda do piloto. Em 1º de maio de 1994, o tricampeão mundial de Fórmula 1, então correndo pela Williams-Renault, faleceu em um acidente durante o Grande Prêmio de San Marino, em Ímola, na Itália.
Aos 34 anos, Senna estava no auge de sua carreira. Durante a corrida, liderava o grande prêmio até perder o controle de sua Williams na curva Tamburello, no Autódromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, e colidir violentamente contra o muro de proteção.
Na Fórmula 1, Senna encantou o Brasil com suas 65 poles positions, 41 vitórias e seus três títulos conquistados em uma década na categoria. Tolemann, Lotus, McLaren e Williams foram as equipes pelas quais Ayrton brilhou, mostrando talento, determinação e um estilo arrojado de pilotagem que se tornaram sua marca registrada.
A morte de Senna comoveu o Brasil, e seu funeral foi um evento de proporções históricas. Mais de um milhão de pessoas se reuniram em São Paulo para prestar suas últimas homenagens ao ídolo.
Mesmo após sua partida, o legado de Senna perdura por meio do Instituto Ayrton Senna, que já beneficiou mais de 36 milhões de crianças e jovens em cerca de três mil cidades brasileiras.
Em entrevista à CNN, Viviane Senna, irmã do piloto e presidente do Instituto, relembra que Ayrton já expressava o desejo de criar um projeto para ajudar o país enquanto estava vivo. O Instituto se tornou uma realidade e transformou a vida de milhões de crianças, famílias e comunidades em termos de resultados educacionais.
Contribuindo para a melhoria da educação básica no Brasil, o Instituto Ayrton Senna materializa o amor que Ayrton sentia pelas crianças.
