O jornalista disputou a prefeitura de São Paulo pelo PSDB neste ano, 2024 e ficou na quinta colocação. Porém, seu nome ficou falado na mídia e redes sociais, principalmente quando em um debate político, Datena deu uma cadeirada no seu adversário Pabli Marçal.
Datena fez um pouco mais de 2% dos votos válidos no primeiro turno. Na avaliação do jornalista, sua campanha foi bem recebida nas comunidades paulistanas. “Fui sempre muito bem recebido. Ninguém me xingou, o que é um milagre”, ressaltou
