O número de vítimas da devastadora enchente na Espanha chegou a 205, conforme anunciado pelo governo local nesta sexta-feira (1). Na cidade de Valência, a terceira maior do país, foram registrados 202 mortos, enquanto outras três vítimas foram contabilizadas em Castilla-La Mancha e Andaluzia. Ainda há dezenas de desaparecidos, de acordo com as autoridades espanholas.
Os danos causados pelas enchentes, que ocorreram após uma tempestade de oito horas, são comparáveis aos de um forte furacão ou tsunami. Segundo a Agência Estatal de Meteorologia (Aemet), essas foram as piores enchentes do século. Três dias após o desastre, a região metropolitana de Valência enfrenta uma situação alarmante, com centenas de carros empilhados e moradores sem acesso a alimentos, enquanto lojas foram saqueadas.
Em resposta à situação, o governo espanhol enviou tropas do Exército para a região nesta sexta-feira, com a missão de auxiliar na limpeza das ruas e na distribuição de alimentos aos moradores do sul de Valência, a área mais atingida pela enchente.
