O presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva assinou nesta segunda-feira (26) o decreto que estabelece o “Imóvel da Gente”, um programa destinado a dar uma finalidade estratégica a mais de mil prédios públicos da União atualmente sem uso. A iniciativa visa possibilitar a utilização desses imóveis em parceria com entidades federativas, movimentos sociais e setor privado para construção de habitações populares, equipamentos públicos e outros fins.
Com mais de 500 imóveis da União em estudo para possível destinação em 200 municípios, e o Instituto Nacional do Seguro Social (INSS) com 3.213 imóveis não operacionais, o programa visa a democratização desses bens, considerando a função socioambiental do patrimônio da União em benefício da população.
O programa inclui a criação de um comitê interministerial responsável por direcionar as ações do “Imóvel da Gente” e fóruns estaduais para gestão democrática dos imóveis, garantindo a coleta de demandas locais e o monitoramento do programa.
As prioridades do programa incluem oferta habitacional através do Minha Casa Minha Vida (MCMV) Entidades, regularização fundiária, urbanização, obras de infraestrutura e equipamentos para políticas públicas. O governo busca uma abordagem mais estratégica em relação à utilização desses imóveis, contrastando com práticas anteriores de simples venda, muitas vezes abaixo do valor de mercado, sem considerar a função social desses bens.
