O Reino Unido registrou nesta segunda-feira (12) o dia mais quente de 2024 até agora e a população dirigiu-se às praias de todo o país. Algumas regiões chegaram a atingir 34ºC, com condições mais extremas no sul da Inglaterra.
Em Margate, no sudeste, as pessoas foram vistas tomando banho de sol e nadando no mar, algo incomum em um verão considerado frio para os padrões atuais.
O sul da Europa, pelo contrário, tem enfrentado casos frequentes de temperaturas extremas, com incêndios florestais emergindo na Grécia, na Espanha e nos Bálcãs.
Calor anormal na Espanha
Uma quarta onda de calor de verão atingiu a Espanha nos últimos dias, com as regiões do norte do país enfrentando temperaturas anormalmente altas de mais de 40 graus Celsius no domingo (11).
As temperaturas subiram durante o fim de semana em toda a Espanha, mas especialmente na área tradicionalmente mais fria do norte do Mar Cantábrico, acionando alertas de “risco extremo” nas regiões da Cantábria e do País Basco, informou o serviço meteorológico Aemet.
O Ministério da Saúde da Espanha recomendou às pessoas que bebam água, se protejam do sol e prestem atenção especial aos jovens e aos idosos.
