A aeronave KC-390 Millennium, com 12 mil litros de água para combater os incêndios no Pantanal, decolou às 11h20 deste sábado (29) para a região do Pantanal, de acordo com a Força Aérea Brasileira (FAB).
No dia anterior (28), o avião operado pelo Esquadrão Zeus, sediado na Base Aérea de Anápolis, em Goiânia, transportou de Corumbá (MS) também cerca de 12 mil litros de água, no primeiro voo real de combate ao fogo realizado pela FAB com o cargueiro multimissão. A água foi lançada em um dos focos de incêndio identificados pelo Corpo de Bombeiros do Mato Grosso do Sul.
Para hoje, estão previstos três voos de aproximadamente 35 minutos para o lançamento de 12 mil litros de água cada um. Para aumentar o efeito no combate ao fogo, um produto químico denominado retardante é adicionado à água lançada pelas aeronaves na região.
